UNWTO and Spain have come together to organize the First International Congress on Ethics and Tourism, to address some of the most pressing ethical issues currently facing the tourism sector (15-16 September, Madrid, Spain).

As one of the largest economic sectors in the world, tourism creates jobs and wealth for millions, but can also pose serious challenges. Against this background, the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism – a set of guidelines and principles for the international tourism sector – was designed to minimize any negative impacts of tourism activity on destinations and host communities.

Soak up the culture of Vietnam whilst enjoying one of the most beautiful coastlines in Asia. This fourteen day trip includes stays in the capital Hanoi and cosmopolitan Ho Chi Minh City, with beautiful beaches and bays along the way.

Day 1: Hanoi
You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Depending on when you arrive activities can be arranged for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Hanoi – Halong Bay
Drive to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Halong Bay for an overnight cruise through thousands of limestone islands on a traditional ‘junk’. Explore caves, kayak in secluded lagoons and sunbathe on the deck. In the evening enjoy a seafood dinner before retiring to your cabin for the night.

Day 3: Halong Bay – Hoi An
The next day cruise back to the mainland, arriving at around midday. You will then be transferred to the airport for a connecting flight to Danang and a short journey to the quaint, picturesque town of Hoi An. Spend your first evening in Hoi An strolling its romantic, silk lantern lit streets and dine in one of its fantastic riverside restaurants.

Day 4 -5: Hoi An
Over the next couple of days you have the options of a privately guided walking tour, a fun cooking class or an excursion to the ancient ruins of My Son. Alternatively, explore the picturesque countryside by bicycle or just laze on the beach.

Day 6: Hoi An – Nha Trang
Refreshed from your relaxing break in beautiful Hoi An, travel onwards to the beach town of Nha Trang, for the next few nights.

Day 7-8: Nha Trang
With its turquoise sea, golden sand and blue skies it is tempting to spend your days just relaxing on the beach. For those who can tear themselves away from their sun loungers, there are many options. You may enjoy a day trip to the offshore islands to go snorkeling and swimming. More adventurous types may wish to take advantage of the excellent kayaking or diving on offer.

Day 9: Nha Trang - Ho Chi Minh City
After a couple of nights in Nha Trang it is time to head further south to Ho Chi Minh City. In the afternoon you have the option of a private city tour or a visit to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels.

Day 10: Mekong Delta
The next day make a journey to the Mekong Delta. Enjoy a cruise on a traditional sampan, taking in the floating markets and lush, tropical landscape. A fantastic lunch will be served in a villa on the banks of the river before returning to Ho Chi Minh City for some free time.

Day 11-13: Ho Chi Minh City - Mui Ne - Ho Chi Minh City
Your last few days in Vietnam will be spent in the peaceful town of Mui Ne, which is a four hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. A popular place for watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, Mui Ne is home to giant sand dunes perfect for jeep safaris. The area is also justifiably known for its cheap and fresh seafood. Inspiring photographic opportunities abound with the brightly coloured Vietnamese fishing boats bringing in their catch in the morning.

Day 14: Ho Chi Minh City
Spend the morning at leisure before you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.

NhaVietCorp, in collaboration with Hoi An City authorities, started construction of the first terracotta cultural park in Vietnam at Thanh Ha District, in the central city of Hoi An.

The Thanh Ha Terracotta Cultural Park has investment of VND22 billion and is located on the 500-year-old traditional pottery village of Thanh Ha.

The park will cover 5,800 square meters, consisting of five theme zones: pottery museum, outdoor exhibition, performance stage, composition camp, and trade promotion and services.

The park is shaped like the turning table used in the process of making pottery products.

Architect Nguyen Van Nguyen, director of NhaVietcorp, said: “The park expects to help preserve and promote the traditional culture of the Thanh Ha pottery village, to create jobs for local people as well as become a good tourist spot for Hoi An”.

The park, which is expected to be completed in July 2013, will also be attractive to researchers and students due to the sculptures and artwork. In the park, the investor will also build miniature works of My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An ancient town and Hue Citadel on a scale of 1/10.
